KCRA in Sacremento is reporting a large increase in carry permit applications, thanks to a lawsuit by the Calguns Foundation and the Second Amendment Foundation that was settled back in October 2010. The settlement involved the county agreeing to move to a shall-issue permitting system.
Residents are concerned about public safety because of the layoff of over 120 deputies in the past few years.
