This doesn’t have to do with firearms or a defensive gun use incident. But maybe we can call this a defensive flash-bang incident?
A man had his truck parked in New Orleans recently, and he was tired of his truck getting broken into. So he rings a flash-bang to go off if someone tries to break into it again. And that’s exactly what happened, and it was caught on surveillance footage.
You can see a car pull up, and the thief hops out, breaks the glass, and climbs into the truck. I’m not sure what the flash-bang was rigged to, but you can see the flash which scared the s#!t out of the thief. He jumps out of the truck and gets away in the getaway car.
Police made the following statement:
While we understand the frustrations our citizens have with crime, rigging an explosive device to detonate inside a vehicle is illegal and a bad idea. via WDSU.
Car theft and break-ins have been on the rise lately in New Orleans, so I understand the residents’ frustration. Do I agree with setting boobytraps in case it happens? No. Do I find this incident mildly amusing? Yep. I may have watched this video a few times before writing this article.
Be safe out there.
Man traps are illegal AFAIK.
I know just let these theifs get away with anything right?
Wonder if he will ever try this again !
