Walmart CCW Shooting Security Footage Breakdown

We initially covered the story in which two other women attacked a woman with a concealed carry license in a Walmart. At that time, we didn’t have any of the security footage. So we could only comment on the available news articles at that time.

Well, the security footage has been released, and as you can see, things transpired a lot faster than we originally thought. But even after looking at the footage of the attack, it is hard to draw the line where the shooting was justified and then becomes unjustified. Tell us what you think in the comments.

Personally, I think that maybe the first shot or two could be considered justified, but as soon as the attackers ran off, it crosses the line into being unjustified. And surely, you never want to go after or chase a fleeting attacker and shoot at them which is what this woman did. Doing so, she wound up hitting one of the attackers in a finger and thigh.

I would also like to note that the District Attorney has dropped the attempted murder charge and the woman that was attacked is now only charged with aggravated assault.

I don’t see any real threat in this situation. I see a cat fight with two guys attempting to break it up, and it seems it would have not escalated much further than it was going. If she was alone and no one else around and was ganged up upon then maybe she had just cause, but again pending on the threat of the attack. This woman was not severely injured and not in a situation where she needed to shoot anyone. When the gun was drawn everyone went away. The threat was neutralized and that’s all you can hope for. I don’t want to shoot anybody, I’ve even had a guy with a bat loaded up on me and I didn’t draw my weapon cuz he had not swung the bat yet. Fortunately for him , he did not and listened to what I told him. “ if you swing that bat you are not gonna like what you will see” and he saved himself. He never knew I was a ccw citizen. Bottom line avoid at all costs to have to draw your weapon unless it’s a dire situation and you know you are in your right to defend yourself with lethal force. I hope all ccw holders see this incident and learn from it. We don’t want to lose that right as we have many already to ignorance and people who can’t act mature in public. Be smart , keep our rights as they should be . 2A

Not a justified shoot in any way. Once the weapon was out they fled. She fired as they were retreating. When she perused the one, that became intent to pursue and cause serious harm or death to the retreating woman. My interpretation of the turning, and coming back to the fight was because she figured, “I can get shot in the back, or I can make my last stand”.
Yes she was attacked, but I never saw anything that would have constituted a imminent threat of serious harm or threat of life.
This was an example of why CCWs should be forced to take escalation, and situational training.
This is why people call all CCWs crazy gun freaks.

The first shot was possibly justified. All subsequent shots were clearly not and, in most cases, were actually quite reckless. I would note, however, that this was clearly a planned attack by the other two who should be charged for the initial assault and that I have zero sympathy for the woman who was shot. She got what she deserved. What this shows clearly is the need for training if you do intend to carry for self defence.
