In just under six months from when Wisconsin’s concealed carry law went into affect they have approved and printed 100,000 concealed carry permits. They has estimated that within a year they would have printed 125,000 permits. They get hundreds of new applications everyday so I don’t see them having any problem meeting that goal. MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen addressed members of the media from the secure license processing area of the Department of Justice (DOJ) headquarters in Madison as the Department marked a milestone this morning – the printing of the 100,000th Concealed Carry License — fewer than six months after 2011 Wisconsin Act 35 took effect.

The DOJ has received nearly 111,000 concealed carry applications since the law took effect November 1, 2011. Wisconsin’s handgun hotline, staffed by employees of the Crime Information Bureau of the DOJ’s Division of Law Enforcement Services, handled a record 88,895 calls in 2011. To date, February 2012 set the record for the highest number of calls to the hotline within a single month at 15,842. All registered firearm dealers are required to call the Handgun Hotline before transferring a handgun.
