A Chicago man was approached by an armed teenager attempting to rob him or car-jack him. Little did he know, the man had a gun of his own.
A 41-year-old man was standing near his car around 12:15 AM one day last week when an armed 16-year-old approached him. As he approached him, he said, ‘What is up?” and an argument ensued. We don’t have any more details on what exactly happened.
But the 41-year-old man was a licensed concealed carry holder, drew his gun, and the two exchanged gunfire. The suspect was shot in the arm, and luckily, the concealed carrier was not hit. The wounded suspect fled on foot, but the police found him nearby. He was taken to a nearby hospital, stitched up, and then arrested.
According to reports, the concealed carrier was also arrested and questioned.
We always say good things never happen at night. But there are times when we can find ourselves in those situations. You need to make sure you’re situational awareness is heightened. While we don’t know all of the details in this case, the concealed carrier was prepared to defend himself, and that’s exactly what he did.
It is also a good reminder that you might be justified and do everything right, and you still might be arrested. This is why you should have your lawyer on speed dial and have a plan of what to do after a self-defense shooting.
