We often cover defensive gun use stories where armed citizens intervene in a situation they see unfolding between people they don’t know. Sometimes intervening can be questionable as you may not know the whole story of what has transpired. We cover this in more detail in the article Defending Strangers: Legal and Practical Considerations. But this incident seems like a pretty clear-cut case of an armed citizen coming to the defense of someone who needed it.
This past Friday, police were called to a Waco, TX convenience store around 7:40 PM. They learned that a man was stabbing a woman with a knife. He chased her into the convenience store and continued the attack. A concealed carrier on the scene witnessed the attack and decided to come to this woman’s defense. He drew his concealed carry gun and shot the suspect.
Both the victim and suspect were taken to the hospital in critical condition. There are no details on what prompted the attack or whether the victim and suspect knew each other. Regardless, seeing a man brutally stabbing a woman seems like it would be enough information to figure out who the bad guy was. Hopefully, the victim has a full recovery and survives thanks to this good Samaritan.
Okay, so what happened to the shooter? I think that’s what everyone wants to know. Was he arrested or charged for shooting the attacker?
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
