We get asked a lot of questions, and it’s only fair that we attempt to answer them. Questions with longer answers often become articles and sometimes we even get some USA Carry Readers to submit their answers. This article is for all the questions that didn’t need their own article. I’m a New York State resident with concealed carry permits from Florida, Utah, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Is there a map or info on what states you’re allowed to buy handguns at the state’s gun store/dealers. I was surprised to find out that I can not buy handguns at a dealer in South Carolina even though I own a home there and have a South Carolina Concealed Carry Permit.
If you purchase a handgun in a state you don’t live in, it has to be transferred to your FFL in your state for you to take possession of after completing a 4473 just like you would purchase a gun in your home state.
Your Concealed Carry Maps show that many states are reciprocal with the Maine Concealed Carry Permit but how does this work now that Maine residents no longer need any permit to conceal carry?
While Maine now has Constitutional Carry allowing its residents to carry concealed without a permit, you would still need a Maine Concealed Carry Permit which they still issue.
I was wondering if you could clarify if Iowa recognizes any of the states that issue a CCW at 18.
According to the Iowa Concealed Carry FAQ, they state that they will honor all permits issued by other states. There is nothing that states that the permit holder must be of a certain age.

Can we legally conceal carry a sub gun or an AR 15 Pistol in a vehicle or a backpack in the state of Washington with the CHL permit?
Washington’s Firearm FAQ states that the Washington Concealed Weapons Permit is only valid for pistols. I am assuming “sub gun” you mean a submachine gun which is not a pistol and therefore you cannot carry concealed. Since an AR-15 Pistol is still classified as a pistol, it should be covered. To be sure I would recommend contacting the Washington State Office of Attorney General to be sure.
