An Indiana man was pulled over by Bowling Green Police for traffic violations and then arrested for testing drunk while having a firearm in his vehicle.
The man was traveling with multiple passengers, all of which smelled of alcohol. The driver tested with a 0.250 BAC, and when asked by an officer said that he did have a 9MM handgun in the center console and an Indiana concealed carry permit.
Atop the DUI, the driver did not inform the officer of the weapon when initially pulled over and was also charged for improperly handling firearms while intoxicated.
You need to know the “Duty to Inform” laws in your state so you know what to do if and when you are pulled over. But more importantly, don’t drink and drive!
The driver was taken to Wood County jail where he will likely face consequences on his carry purposes atop of driving under the influence.
