A 14-year-old son of a pizza shop employee sprung into action stopping an attack on one of his parents during a robbery.
This all started when three armed men robbed a CVS in Philadelphia, PA, around 9:30 PM last night. One of the suspects ran a block away and attempted to rob the Bold Pizza Shop. He reached over the counter in an attempt to take cash from the register. He then got into a struggle with one of the employees. When the suspect started to strangle the employee, the victim’s son grabbed a handgun from under the counter and shot him once in the face.
“There was money on the floor, and there was also some broken glass inside the store, and there was also a large amount of blood,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small via 6 ABC.
Police followed a blood trail to a subway station, where the suspect was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. They also matched the suspect to the CVS surveillance video.
I don’t like the idea of a loaded firearm being stored on a shelf that anyone has access to. I’d say the best solution is to have the gun on you at your place of employment. That will be the fastest way to access the gun if someone comes in to rob the place. But luckily, this 14-year-old knew how to use the gun and saved his parent from being attacked. The men were armed, so who knows how this would have happened if the kid didn’t shoot the suspect. Unfortunately, the kid will have to deal with the fact that he took someone’s life.
