The crime in New Orleans has gotten completely out of control. This incident took place in the middle of the day last week.
A woman was sitting in her car during a break from her job to charge her phone. The car was parked on the side of a busy street. A young man walked up to her car and asked where the bus stop was. She was lucky because he moved on, but she noticed he had what looked to be a handgun.
One of her colleagues pulled up a few spaces in front of her. When she got out of the car, the suspect attempted to rob her. The victim ran across the street screaming. The whole time this took place, a man in a red Corvette was stopped in traffic alongside the victim. He saw this take place and said at the suspect, “I see what you’re doing.” He then showed him his handgun.
It is reported that the suspect shot the Corvette hitting the passenger door, and the passenger side window was blown out. There are no reports of the Good Samaritan firing back. But surveillance footage (see below) shows the suspect fleeing the scene. He grabs his stomach and falls over on a fence at one point. And then he gets up and walks off. It would seem that he might have been shot. Did the Good Samaritan fire back and hit the suspect? Did the suspect shoot himself?
The main takeaway from this incident is to avoid putting yourself in these situations. Sitting in your car, which is parked on a busy street in a city riddled with crime to charge your iPhone, probably isn’t the best idea. Do you have a problem keeping your phone charged while you are at work? One solution could be to get a battery pack, so you don’t have to sit in your car. Sitting in the car leaves you nowhere to go if someone comes up to rob you.
