NSSF and SAAMI Issue a Joint Statement on the Las Vegas Tragedy

On October 9, 2017, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturer’s Institute (SAAMI) issued a joint statement on the Las Vegas Tragedy.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families and loved ones of all those killed and injured in the criminal attack in Las Vegas. The manufacture, distribution and sale of automatic firearms and their components has been stringently regulated by federal laws since 1934. We believe the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) should interpret and enforce existing laws and regulations. We call upon ATF to conduct a prompt review and evaluation of aftermarket trigger activation devices such as bump stocks to determine whether they are lawful to install and use on a firearm under the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), or whether, if they have no function or purpose other than to convert a conventional firearm into an automatic firearm, they are regulated items under the NFA. We urge Congress to allow ATF to complete its review before considering any legislation so that any policy decisions can be informed by the facts and ATF’s analysis.

These organizations along with the NRA need to be replaced with better organizations that are actually willing to stand up for what is right instead of continuing to bow down to people who have no understanding of the evil in the world. IT IS ILLEGAL TO KILL ANYONE! Does not matter how you kill them, and making things illegal does not make them harder to get. Look at all the countries around that have outright banned firearms, what do the criminals do? They make submachine guns! Let our citizens protect themselves with the best equipment they can.

People are the weapons, Guns are the tools! Guns don’t just fire by them selfs, it take’s a human being to pull the trigger!

Well, it depends on how you look at it. A lot of people are tools, too.

I know the NRA and NSSF and other organizations are catching heat for throwing bump stocks under the bus, but I honestly think it is a half-decent strategy. I see bump stocks being used as the “sacrificial lamb” in this situation. Bump stocks are a novelty, and if the thirst for “action on guns” can be sated with a new ATF ruling on bump stocks, and that is the only gun control that comes out of this, I don’t think we will come out too bad. Much better than having to deal with another push for an AWB or mag capacity restrictions or some crap like that.

It won’t work. I can make one in my basement. I also don’t even need one to fire rapidly. So, when it doesn’t work they will demand more. What’s next. Well if you can fire a semi-automatic rapidly the problem must be the semi-automatic. It will never end, nor is it necessary. You don’t surrender to bad policy, ever.

Apples to folks taking offense with gun civil rights(NRA) and sporting organizations discussed here. Originally posted in a separate forum:

Lets don’t cut off our nose in-spite of our faces. Hasn’t anyone noticed that this current anti gun response is louder than at any time before and is becoming a steam roller, rolling across this country?
I think before anyone, including MAC, condemns the NRA, realize that the left is succeeding in ‘DIVIDING’the NRA, its their only true opposition! In other words they are winning, succeeding in their strategy and many of you are enabling them to restrict or rights!
Just quit with the knee jerking, take a breath and lets get with the NRA and move forward with our agenda.
You have to be a fool if you think we can fight without the NRA.
As far as the bump stock, you also have to be a fool to think that this was just a happy accessory that would never come under fire.
Some people stand on the fact that the democrats gave the ok for the bumpstock and other rapid fire accessories like the Fostech.
Well here is my question to you. When have democrats ever been for gun rights, gun accessories and above all rapid fire? I say that the democrats passed the bumpstock to entrap us and create the fuzzy line on Semi Autos which is their nemesis!! They are winning because we sat back and happily, blindly agreed with their strategy.
Quit being suckers and idiots, instead of becoming divided and losing, let’s get on board with the NRA strategy and win!!

    Agreed.
