Springfield Armory announced the launch of the 4” Polished Blued SA-35 on October 6, a 9mm pistol that pairs a compact 4-inch-barreled slide assembly with a polished blued finish on a forged carbon steel frame and slide. The company is positioning it as a refined EDC option in the SA-35 line.
According to Springfield Armory’s announcement, the new model carries SKU HP9205 and an MSRP of $799. It is made in the U.S.A.
The SA-35 is Springfield’s modern take on John Moses Browning’s original P-35 design. The company describes the upgrades as subtle but significant: rugged forged steel parts, improved ergonomics and enhanced controls, a factory-tuned trigger, a Tactical Rack rear sight paired with a white dot front sight, an improved feed ramp, and a 15-round flush-fit magazine. The feed ramp design is meant to run reliably with modern defensive ammunition, which matters more than the finish if you plan to carry it.
What sets this version apart is the look. The polished blued finish gives the carbon steel frame and slide a deep, lustrous appearance, and walnut grip panels with natural grain and finely cut checkering round out the “wood and steel” character the company is leaning into.
“The SA-35’s combination of classic styling with enhancements today’s shooters demand made it an immediate hit,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “This new version, combining a polished finish with lighter weight and a more compact size, makes for a very appealing option for EDC users.”
More from USA Carry:
I have one of these in hand for review. I have not shot it yet, so I am not going to tell you how it runs until I have put rounds through it. I can tell you it is a beautiful gun. The first thing my son said when I showed it to him was to ask if he could have it. No, son. This one is mine.
A polished finish and walnut grips do not stop a threat. Mindset and training do. But there is nothing wrong with carrying a gun you actually enjoy looking at, as long as you train with it the same way you would train with a plastic one. I will have a full range report once I have run it.
