The proceed to smash jewelry cases but quickly got more than they bargained for. Hayes saw everything unfold through a one-way mirror in his office. Thinking fast, he grabbed his handgun and fired shots at the thieves.
They quickly scatter, but Hayes wounded two of the men robbing his jewelry store. One was shot in the hand and the other in the butt. All four were apprehended at an apartment complex where police found jewelry and drugs in the getaway car. The two wounded were taken to the hospital, and the two others skipped Go and went straight to jail.
The employee that buzzed in the first man said she would be prepared if it happens again. She has taken the concealed carry class, applied for a Texas Concealed Handgun License, and plans on carrying a handgun from now on.
