Wisconsin Governor Expresses Support for Training Requirement

Governor Scott Walker said today that Wisconsinites should be required to get training and state permits before they can carry concealed weapons.

But spokesman Cullen Werwie would not say if the Republican governor would veto the so-called “constitutional carry” bill if it gets to his desk.

That measure would let law-abiding adults carry guns with neither permits nor training.

Ed’s note: The Governor has not said what he would do if a permitless carry bill came to his desk.

I Know I’m gonna get flamed for this, but who can blame them for wanting proof of training? I’m 100% for waiving it for certain people (mainly prior military) but people that have been around guns for years forget that the people that haven’t typically don’t have a clue about firearms safety. People ARE stupid and those people WILL go buy guns they don’t understand how to safely handle. No, Not everybody but it will happen. Being from a commie state I’m 100% against “Gun Control” but I don’t think safety training is asking much.

I’ve been to several good handgun classes and it is great to see people who have never or sledom fired a handgun finish the course with the knowledge that they can protect themselves. Also if you travel many states will not honor Wisconsin’s permit if no training is required and it is in their state.
