Police Chief Mark Leahy last week filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in which he is named as a defendant.
Northborough resident Eoin Pryal, a legal immigrant from the United Kingdom, filed a lawsuit in April with another immigrant from Cambridge and two gun rights groups alleging that the state law barring immigrants from possessing handguns and large-capacity weapons is unconstitutional.
Pryal says he filed an application with the Northborough Police Department for a pistol permit and was denied. But Leahy says he never received such an application and had never heard of Pryal before being sued.
