Stories like these make me cringe, but there’s a reason why we still cover them. A few days ago, a 26-year-old Florida woman was getting food from Popeyes. After getting into an argument with one of the employees, she pulled a gun and started waving it around, telling the employee, “Bitch don’t fix my food.”
Someone called the police, who, upon responding, arrested the woman charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. The gun was found in her handbag, and she does (did) have a valid Florida Concealed Handgun License.
It is incidents like these that make the rest of us look bad. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t cover the story. This should be an example to the rest of us of what not to do. And while we probably all know not to pull a gun on fast food employees making our order, it is a reminder that you need to keep your temper and ego in check when carrying a firearm.
