It is 3 AM in the morning and you are fast asleep in a hotel room. You are awakened by someone screaming for help in the hallway. Do you leave your room to investigate or do you stay in your room and call the police? This is an example scenario that you should consider as responsible armed citizens.
But this is exactly what happened to a man in Waco, TX this past weekend. Early Saturday morning, a man awoke to people screaming for help from the hotel hallway where he was staying. He left his room, assumedly armed with a handgun, to investigate. He found a room with a man attacking three woman. As he tried to help the woman, the aggressor then started to attack the man which caused him to fire one shot which stopped the threat.
The wounded suspect was transported to a hospital where he later died. One of the three woman had minor injuries. The bystander that shot the suspect cooperated with the police and was not arrested.
While this incident sounds like the bystander saved these three woman from the continued attack of the suspect, this should be a reminder to all of us that there are risks with defending strangers. Sal goes into this further in the article below.
