A few days ago, I reported on the story where a concealed carrier stepped in and shot at dogs that were attacking a small child. At the time, the only footage I could find stopped right before he fired any shots. Now that I’ve seen the full video, I have some different thoughts on the situation.
I found the video posted to Instagram by knockoutlights, Chief Instructor Assault Dynamics. And I have to agree with his analysis of this. Especially the last shot the man took. That was extremely close to the child and his mother.
I believe everyone here was acting in good faith for the protection of the child but good intentions aren’t a substitution for good practices particularly the last few shots that were so close to the child. For every round that was fired, it had the potential for negligence due to the angle and the likelihood of skipping if missed. One thing to consider in a situation like this is to close the distance on the animal and attempt to incapacitate it at point blank range. Although this might put you at risk, it also mitigates collateral damage to everyone around you.
