Rep. Walt Brooks sponsored House Bill 60 to allow residents of Utah over 21 to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. Open carry without a permit in Utah is already legal. This bill would not affect those prohibited from carrying firearms.
Rep. Cory Maloy sponsored House Bill 61 which would eliminate the need for a carry permit during a state of emergency which has occurred numerous times in the past year for events like covid and a 5.7 earthquake.
Utah’s legislative session starts on January 19, 2021. Let’s hope Utah soon gets added to the growing list of constitutional carry states.
