A 17-year-old and her unborn child are dead after a man had a negligent discharge in a vehicle she was a passenger in.
Just after 6 PM this past Saturday, police responded to a shooting in Baton Rouge, LA. They found a 17-year-old that was shot transported her to the hospital, where she later died. She was 25 weeks pregnant.
A man that was riding in the car with the girl was sitting directly behind her. The story states that he was “playing with the gun” but also says that he was repositioning the gun. Either way, the man squeezed the trigger, causing a negligent discharge hitting the girl in front of him.
It is unclear if he had a concealed carry permit. The news story or arrest record doesn’t list his date of birth, so his age is also unknown.
This is clearly irresponsible gun handling, whether he was playing with the gun or just repositioning it. We all know you shouldn’t be “playing with a loaded gun.” But this is an excellent time to remind everyone how important a proper holster is. If you have to reposition your holster throughout the day, you might want to look at getting a different holster.

“We all know you SHOULD be playing with a loaded handgun”? Pretty sure this slipped by the editing team, though missing the N’T is a pretty ill defining slip.
