Today we’re introducing the Savage Stance Pistol—the first of an all-new line of handguns from Savage Arms. Before I actually break down the features of this gun, I kind of want to talk about some of the things that stood out to me and my first overall impressions of the gun.
The first thing I actually noticed after shooting the Savage Stance is really just the overall control. For it is a single stack 9-round concealing pistol, the Savage shoots and handles more like a larger and heavier double stack rather than a small micro-compact pistol, which to me is actually quite impressive. Another thing I like about the Stance is probably one of the most important aspects of a shooter is the trigger itself. Now I personally like shooting guns with short, crisp trigger pulls, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in the Stance. Something else that stood out to me was the quick trigger reset after each shot. The mechanics on this gun allowed the Stance to be very quick shooting pistol, allowing me to get shot after shot very quickly and efficiently. Because the Stance is such a well-balanced pistol, it really doesn’t buck as much as expected to after each cycle. The factory stippling on this really helps me get the gun snug in my hand, allowing me to recenter on the target much faster.
Something about this pistol that I think is really unique is Savage Arms actually hasn’t produced a pistol in over 100 years. I think it’s really cool that they’re getting back into the pistol game. Savage markets this pistol as a micro-compact pistol that is super easy to conceal and carry. Handling it, I definitely noticed the effort they put into the design to make it a very convenient and reliable concealed carry gun.
A couple of the aspects I actually noticed immediately when picking up this gun were the slide cuts on the slide, which serve two purposes: one to lower the overall weight of the gun, but it also allows you to shoot lower velocity rounds so that the slide actually functions correctly. The second thing I actually noticed about this pistol is on the slide itself; it has a beveled edge on its nose of it. What this allows you to do is to conceal this a little more quickly and efficiently, especially if you’re used to form-fitting holsters. Savage Arms actually released the Stance with the option to omit the mechanical safety—which is the version we have here with us today. But if you still want the assurance of the safety, the Stance allows you to have an option of ambidextrous left- or right-handed mechanical safety.

When you purchase this pistol, it comes with two different mags. One is a seven-round mag, and one is an eight-round mag with a little bit of an extension grip. Included with that are two options of 18th-degree backstraps where one’s a little thinner and then one’s a little wider, so you can choose what you like.
When I was shooting this, I noticed the sights. They stand out really, really well in the daytime, and they look great. I was able to keep my eye on the target at all times, and they just look really good in the daytime. But in low light circumstances, when it was just getting dark, and we were still shooting, these really stand out well in those low light situations. I love the night sights on this pistol. They are absolutely awesome.
One thing I wanted to mention is that a lot of the times when you purchase a pistol it requires you to break the gun in. With the Savage Stance we didn’t have to break it in. It shot really well right out of the box without worrying about putting 300 or 400 rounds into it.
Closing Statement
Overall, the Savage Stance is a really reliable micro-compact pistol. Whether you’re an avid shooter, you want to go have fun at the range, or you’re a new gun owner who wants to carry concealed, I would recommend the Savage Stance micro-compact pistol.
