We’ve been hearing this a lot lately, but this is another example of why it takes a good guy (or gal) with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun. And in this case, it was a bad girl with a gun.
I reported on this Monday shortly after the incident took place. We now have video footage that the police have released that shows the moment the suspect stepped out of a vehicle to when she was taken into custody after being shot.
On Monday, July 25, 2022, at 10:57 AM, a woman walked into Dallas Love Field airport. She walked into the terminal and then into the bathroom. It was initially reported that she changed clothes in the bathroom, but the security footage shows that didn’t happen. It looks like she just pulled the hoodie over her head a bit more than it was when she entered the bathroom.
She proceeded to walk over to the ticketing counter of Southwest Airlines. She said she had an announcement to make and started rambling about marriage and incarceration and then said she was going to blow up the airport.
That’s when she pulled a gun from the front pocket of her hoodie, pointed it upwards, and fired two rounds. There was an officer in the area, and it seems that he already had his attention on her before she pulled her gun.
The police officer engaged with the suspect and gave her verbal commands to drop the gun. When she pointed the gun at the officer and innocent bystander, the officer fired multiple times, hitting the suspect and causing her to fall to the ground and drop the weapon. He was able to stop the threat within seven seconds of her firing shots toward the ceiling.
After more police arrived, they found shell casings from the suspect’s gun that confirmed she shot at the officer. They were then able to handcuff the suspect and take her into custody.
Thankfully, this officer was in the right place at the right time and was able to take the suspect down before anyone was hurt.
